Terms of service

These terms apply between Local Basket Ltd ("we", "us") and you when you use the Local Basket website, app or service. By placing an order you agree to them.

The service

We connect you with a self-employed local shopper who buys goods from a third-party shop on your behalf and delivers them. We are an agent — the sale of the goods is between you and the shop.

Pricing & fees

You pay the actual shelf price at the till plus a transparent service fee and delivery fee shown at checkout. We never mark up the products. Prices on the app are guidance only; the receipt from the shop is the final price. We refund any difference of more than £0.50 automatically.

Substitutions & missing items

If something is out of stock, your shopper will offer the closest alternative via chat. You can refuse — you only pay for what arrives. Missing items are refunded in full within 24 hours.

Age-restricted goods

Alcohol, tobacco and other 18+ goods will only be delivered to someone who can show valid photo ID. We operate a Challenge-25 policy.

Cancellation

You can cancel free of charge until your shopper starts shopping. After that, you're liable for items already picked.

Liability

We are responsible for delivering the service with reasonable care and skill. We are not liable for losses we couldn't reasonably foresee, or for issues caused by the third-party shop's stock or pricing.

Care-Runs & Local Runs

Welfare checks are best-effort wellness visits, not a regulated care service. Local Runs (collections, moves, etc.) are subject to a separate quote and our standard insurance limits.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales. UK consumer rights apply and are not affected.
